Day 7  Mae Hong Son—Chiang Mai 11/7 Wednesday. Breakfast at the Fern Resort. Late morning half hour Thai Airways flight to Chiang Mai. (TG 191 Mae Hong Son to Chiang Mai: 12:45 pm to 1:20 pm). Transfer to accommodations at YMCA International House. Northern Thai lunch at the Huen Pen Restaurant. Early afternoon city tour including the Chiang Mai Hilltribe Museum and the hill top Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Thai dinner at the Gallery Restaurant. Evening shopping at the night market. Accommodations at the YMCA International House.

Day 8  Chiang Mai 11/8 Thursday. Breakfast at the YMCA International House. Morning tour of select antique and handicraft galleries. Participatory lunch and cooking demonstration featuring traditional Thai dishes. A two hour Thai massage lesson taught by a fourth generation practitioner. Northern Thai khan toke dinner featuring Thai dance performances. Accommodations at the YMCA International House.

Day 9  Chiang Mai—Doi Mae Salong 11/9 Friday. Breakfast at the YMCA International House. One hour drive to the Elephant Training Center in Chiang-Dao. Jungle Elephant Ride. Thai lunch in Chiang-Dao. Three hour drive to the mountainous Chinese village of Doi Mae Salong. Afternoon village walk. Transfer to accommodations at the Mae Salong Villas. Late afternoon at leisure. Chinese Yunnan dinner at the Mae Salong Restaurant including a hilltribe dance performance. Accommodations at the Mae Salong Villas.

Day 10  Doi Mae Salong—Chiang Mai 11/10 Saturday. Hilltribe morning market exploration including a sampling of local teas. Visit mountain top temple. Breakfast at the Mae Salong Villas. One hour drive to Thaton. Five hour long-tail boat ride along the Kok River to Chiang Rai, with a picnic lunch and visit to a hilltribe village. Early evening half hour Thai Airways flight to Chiang Mai. (TG 183 Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai: 8:00 pm to 8:40 pm). Vietnamese dinner at the Suan Doi House restaurant. Accommodations at the Suan Doi House.

Day 11  Chiang Mai—Myanmar 11/11 Sunday. Breakfast at the Suan Doi House. Morning at leisure. International buffet lunch at the Westin Riverside Hotel. Depart Chiang Mai early afternoon. (6T 021 Chiang Mai to Rangoon: 2:25 pm to 3:05 pm). (day continues in Myanmar).

Day 11  Yangon 11/11 Sunday. One hour Air Mandalay flight to Yangon. Clear Myanmar customs. Transfer to accommodations at the Liberty Hotel. Sunset tour of Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar’s most important religious site. Myanmar dinner at the Strand Hotel Restaurant followed by a round-the-piano jazz sing-along at the Strand Hotel Bar. Accommodations at the Liberty Hotel.

Day 12  Yangon—Mandalay 11/12 Monday. Breakfast at the Liberty Hotel. Two hour late morning Air Mandalay flight to Mandalay. (6T 807 Rangoon to Mandalay: 11:15 am to 12:40 pm). Transfer to accommodations at the Mandalay Swan Hotel. Myanmar
